My Death Video (Not a comedy)

Video Description:
A big thank you to all the wonderful people who have been saying such kind words in comments and emails.
This is a video about what to do in the event of my death or catastrophic injury. My views on my life and death.
People have been asking me to do a blog so I thought I would do something useful.
The ending is me waaaaay out on a limb. This is NOT the usual ScaryDAve stuff so be prepared and forewarned.
The subject of this video can get quite touchie. Some people may not agree with it or find it too difficult to watch or discuss and that's fine. I still felt it was time to get it done.
At 30 minutes, it's a bit of a stretch to think anyone will watch the entire thing but here it is. Take it for what it's worth.
I assure you that this is not a scheme to get subs of views or featured or anything like that. My motivations are quite simple. I would like to start a new online video ritual/tradition for those of us who produce videos. The ritual is quite simple. I think it's very important for all of us to use this medium to say our last words and post our last will and testament in a way that no one can twist around or argue with. There is no way to forge one of these is there?
I think it would be a good idea for us to state in a video format how we want to be treated if we die or are involved in a catastrophic accident. Do you want to be kept alive on a machine? Do you want to be an organ donor? What do you want to happen with your stuff? What about your intellectual properties such as your videos? Do you want then to become public domain or turned over to a loved one?
I want to make sure I am never hooked to a machine an kept alive. I want to make sure my son owns all my materials and keeps this account going. I think these sorts of things are important to put out there while we are still breathing.
Also, what would you like to say to people once you are gone. What are your thoughts on life. Would you have changed anything? What were you hoping to leave behind?
I think it is important for all of us to make these videos so that our loved ones have something to help them make the transition from our life to our death more easily. A way to keep any misunderstandings between the people we leave behind to a minimum.
In the event that we don't die and things change then we update our death video. If we live to be quite old then we have reference to see how our attitudes towards death evolve and change as we grow older.
I hope you find this idea to be a worthy one and join me in showing others that this is a good idea by adding your own video. If you want to respond to mine, that's fine. If you want to just do it independently, that's fine as well. This isn't a marketing ploy. It's a way to make this world a little more aware of how short our lives really are. In starting this, I just want to leave something behind that helps the loved ones of people who have died make an easier transition as well as making the rest of us think about what life means to us while we still have it.
I encourage you to pass this idea on to those you feel would make good use of it.
In making my death video, I put myself waaaaaaaaaay out on a limb. I stepped waaay waay outside my usual box and have opened myself ridicule in a huge way. If you ever see it through to the end you will understand what I mean. I hope by doing so to inspire others to do the same thing.
This life is too short and mine has already ended a couple times. While I was gone, I didn't see a thing. So I find my time here to be that much more important. I am told that my growing to a very old age is highly unlikely. Doctors have been wrong before but I am faced with my own mortality every day. The limitations of my heart are presented to me every day. Still, I have outlived so many of my friends who have died younger than I am now that it's obvious to me that there is just no way to know when the last sunrise will be. Something everyone should be reminded of on a regular basis. If tomorrow is no guarantee then why risk wasting today?
I hope you can handle this topic in a way which would set a good example to others.
I think that the first round of these videos should be inspirational so that the tradition takes hold and spreads. In doing so I think some of the pain and surviving of our loved ones can be slightly diminished and their/ our lives can have just that much more meaning associated with them when they are over.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely
DAve
